29-MAY-2024 - Libby share links in OverDrive APIs

We are excited to announce that on June 12, 2024, OverDrive APIs will include Libby share links in Metadata API responses, on both collection and bulk endpoints. Libby share links provide additional information about a title without referencing a specific library collection. Instead, they provide a list of nearby libraries based on the end-user's IP address and instructions for how to get the app.

OverDrive API consumers can use Libby share links to:

• Promote specific titles via email automation services, blog posts, and social media.
• Allow users to send title links to friends and family.
• Provide instructions to users on how to get a book in Libby.

In the future, Libby share links will also contain enhanced samples. We aim to release this work in Q3 2024 and will follow up with additional information as we get closer to launch.
