OverDrive Partners

OverDrive is excited to announce new content for the Manga and Anime genre coming to libraries and schools. We have partnered with a leading distributor of Japanese Manga and Anime to bring this exciting content to our partners around the world. The content is currently being offered in the United States and Japan but will soon be coming to all our partners around the world.

Graphic novels and other content that reads right-to-left and top-to-bottom, including Manga and Anime, is being delivered as a new format ("MediaDo"). This format is now available to discover and borrow through the OverDrive APIs. The experience of opening and enjoying this content will be similar to the experience of OverDrive Read, and the integration through the OverDrive APIs will be similar to that of Streaming Video. There is no file to download because the MediaDo reader works in the user's web browser. Our Download API will provide you with the appropriate link to open the MediaDo content for the user.

If you want to preview, test, or develop for implementing this new format, Manga and Anime content is now available in the new MediaDo format in the integration APIs via the OverDrive API Integration Library. Once we enable the new MediaDo format in our production APIs on 12-JANUARY-2015, it will be discoverable in the collections of libraries that have purchased it.

For documentation on the MediaDo format code in the OverDrive APIs, see http://developer.overdrive.com/docs/reference-guide.

Thank you for your continued partnership.
