NEW - Security Updates - OverDrive Download API - 01-DEC-2016

Tags: ATS, Apple, iOS, HTTPS, DownloadLink, contentLink, Fulfillment, security

OverDrive API partners,

Later this year, OverDrive will begin taking steps to ensure all download and fulfillment workflows occur over a secure protocol layer. We’re making these changes to be compliant with new security protocols required by Apple and other software providers.

Beginning next week through 01-DEC-2016, all links contained in the responses from the OverDrive Download API will be updated to use HTTPS. These include the contentLink, links inside license files (ACSM and ODM), and any subsequent URLs needed to complete fulfillment (images, content, redirects, etc.).

As a reminder, all requests to the OverDrive APIs currently support HTTPS. If your application does not already request contentLinks over HTTPS, we strongly encourage you to switch to HTTPS as soon as possible. In the meantime, rest assured that the OverDrive APIs will continue to support HTTP until further notice.

For more information, please review our documentation on the OverDrive Download API.

If you have questions or concerns or need additional support, please submit a request on our Developer Support page.

Please visit our notices board for additional details and announcements about these and other security protocol changes in the OverDrive APIs.

Thanks for being an OverDrive API partner,
