Our new Magazine Issues API will be deployed to our production environment on March 15. With this API, you can access details for all available issues of a magazine.
To prepare for release, the Magazine Issues API is now available in our Partner Integration Environment using our Integration Library (https://overdriveapi.overdrive.com). We recommend testing in the integration environment to ensure that these changes won’t adversely impact your existing implementation. See documentation for the Magazine Issues API here.
If you don’t support the magazine-overdrive format, these changes shouldn’t be noticeable in your API implementation.
How to access the Magazine Issues API
To access the Magazine Issues API, you can use the new link provided in the item response on the Search API. This will only be included on item records with the magazine-overdrive format.
You can also request the Magazine Issues API directly using a valid ID from the magazine record in the collection.
Note: Each magazine in the collection has only one record. See this blog post for more information about recent changes to magazine record structures.
The API will provide metadata for each issue, including a unique identifier that can be used for additional actions (like requesting a checkout or making a return), and a link to the cover image.
If you have any questions or concerns about the Magazine Issues API, please submit them to our support team through the Developer Portal.
As always, thanks for being an OverDrive API partner,
The OverDrive API team
